Makeup Artist at Shemar Moore Photoshoot

My own freelance is called beauty.marked in which I take on photo shoots, events, weddings, and fashion shows. This February I had an amazing opportunity come my way in which I was ecstatic about. I was blessed to be on the team doing a photo shoot for Shemar Moore. If you don't already know, besides Shemar Moore being on my top 10 finest men alive list, he is a well known actor/model. He currently stars on the television show Criminal Minds.
For the Photoshoot, and for all makeup jobs I do I keep a face chart journal to have a record of the look I chose as well as the products used.
I decided to create my own "face" for my face chart lol. (I currently work at Sephora so I combined there's with MAC's and put my own twist) So here is my page from the journal from the shoot.

For the shoot, I used of course my favorite brand, Makeup Forever, as well as Smashbox, and for skin care some Philosophy.
Products Used: Makeup Forever- Elixer, HD powder, Face & Body #18, Mat Bronzer #6; Smashbox- Pore/line filler primer, Philosophy - Miracle Worker Eye Cream

Enough about products, Let's talk ab out the experience! =) I had a great time and it was a good experience being on set again. Shemar was a very nice man, and the environment was professional, yet comfortable.

The photographer was Samuel Whitworth. Awesome photographer! check out his work

Samuel put together a great team of myself, a stylist, and a videographer.
Here's the video made from the shoot, definitely worth checking out!

So excited to do more shoots like these in the future.

And in conclusion, Here is a picture of me and Shemar.

My Art -Duality Series?

This is my first actual post, and I decided to share my latest art visions. Lately, I have been working on a new possible series. I am ready for a new group of work to start submitting to galleries and hope to have a show sometime in the near future. So far I have done 2 paintings to see if this is something I can keep going. As and artist I have found my style and whatt interests me most. Because I am an observational artist I enjoy observing every day objects and either giving them personification, a narrative, or a peculiar mood.
Here is the 1st 24X36 Painting of a Duality of Love and War.
And here is the finished painting. Excuse the picture quality, took it with my phone. Currently on display at CSULB.

The latest painting from this potential series was to be on the struggle between healthy food and well, not so healthy food. A struggle I have a little too often, considering my love for sweets. So I thought it may be fun to play with the idea of giving the sweets a halo affect and look so real you could eat it off the canvas. In contrast to the irresistible sweets, there will be a darker world of healthy food. Kind of reminiscent to that kid who wishes the vegetables on his or her place would go away.

For inspiration I looked to a few artists.

The classic Italian artist, Caravaggio, and 2 contemporary artists,Wayne Theibaud and Will Cotton. I was inspired by Carravagio's dramatic use of lighting. Also, Theibaud and Cotton's choice of subject matter of using food, specifically pastries as a work of art.
(Carravagio, Calling of St. Matthew., Wayne Thiebaud Cakes, 1963.)
I also enjoy Will Cotton's works and use of his subject of sweets. He tends to combine a sense of femininity with the irresistible desire for sweets.
And surprise surprise, Will Cotton was actually the artistic director for Katy Perry's California Girls video, that involved a candy coated world. He's a great artist worth looking up, if one has not heard of his name before.

So with a combination of these inspirations. (Caravaggio for the darker world, and Theibaud for the delectable sweets.) Here is my own piece on the human struggle between eating healthy vs eating junk food. I chose to make the doughnuts inviting and in light, while the brocoli fades into the dark background. I thought it would be fun to make the brocoli look like a landscape since I think just about every kid has their brocoli looks like trees phase. Below is the art piece...So now I need to decide if I am going to keep this going, Or start new ideas for a different series. here's my piece. Not yet titled. I was thinking either "Didn't Eat the Brocoli" or "It's A Struggle". haha
